You Need a "System" of Written Marketing Tools
Marketing is a systematic process with predictable steps and stages. To market effectively, you need to recognize exactly where you (and your prospects) are at every step along the way. To get predictable results, you must have written materials at each point—materials that correspond to the prospect’s needs for information at that point. In effect, these business materials are the "grease" that move prospects along closer to becoming your client.
My System Directly Correlates to Robert Middleton’s Marketing Ball Concepts
If you’re a Robert Middleton fan, the system I’ve created "overlays" his Marketing ball diagram. It provides a tool for you to use to win clients at each "marketing baseball" position that Robert describes. If you examine his explanation of how the sales and marketing cycle works, you’ll see that you need to be able to give prospects the correct information at the right time to predictably move them toward closing a sale.
This System is Modular So You Can Add To Your Marketing "Arsenal" As Your Budget Allows
As you review these services, notice that these service offerings are constructed in a modular way. You don’t have to have a big budget to buy everything all at once. You can pay for one piece at a time. The pieces fit together, but you can buy each module separately as you grow your business.
Our Web Site Writing Packages Are Also Modular
We’ve thought of everything. Most small businesses don’t have unlimited thousands of dollars cash to invest in writing a web site—even though they need to get the work done. We’ve created a method that can give you an immediate web presence, starting with a single page "sales letter" type site ("Stellar Sales" Single Web Page). From that beginning, you can add pages and "build out" to a three page site (Web Site "Core Pages" Package), then to a full eight page site (Web Site Tool Kit Package), when your time and budget allows.
- If you have a small budget, start with the Stellar Selling Single Web Page package. That way, you can get immediate web presence. During the process of writing this single page, we dig into the marketing concepts and information that are critical for your prospects to know about your business.
- When you have an increased budget, you can go forward with the three page Web Site "Core Pages" Package. Most of the content from the single web page is reused and expanded for these more robust, fully fleshed out pages.
- When you have additional budget, we can then finish out your web site with the full eight page Web Site Tool Kit Package. This is the full web site that Robert Middleton describes in his Web Site Tool Kit.
Our menu of service offerings have been intentionally created to provide all the business writing needs for the service business. In designing these packages, one of our primary objectives was to make these services affordable and accessible for any service business and to accommodate the budgetary realities of the small service business. Here are overviews of all our services.
First, You Need To Be Clear About Your Business Strategy
Build a Strategic Foundation For Your Business
Underlying all your business writing must be a clear, cogent business strategy. Many small business owners grow their business in "bits and pieces", and the result often is not cohesive or efficient. You may be "leaving money on the table" by not working strategically. Perhaps you don’t spend your time and energy on lucrative markets. You may be missing out on opportunities to expand or diversify your business. Maybe you’re failing to create passive income. Then, You Must Precisely Target Your Market
Articulate a Precision Target Market
You can’t attract the right prospects and clients until you have precisely identified your target market. Most of the marketing problems small service businesses experience are the result of an imprecise definition of the target market. When you don’t know exactly who you want to work with, your marketing materials are not successful. They do not attract clients. They don’t predictably deliver revenue to your business and they definitely don’t attract ideal clients. You don’t get inquiries from your web site. You don’t know how or where to access your market. The Next Tool Is An Effective Elevator Speech That Attracts Your Target Market
Craft a Knock Out Elevator Speech
When you present your business in a quick overview during conversations, or at networking events, you must be able to arrest the attention of your audience. You need to make it crystal clear what you do, and intrigue your listeners enough that your target market will want to know more, ask you questions, or request additional information. Note: Robert Middleton calls this the Audio Logo. Your "One Sheet" or Executive Summary Must WOW Your Target Market
Get Them Hungry For More Information With a Whiz Bang One Sheet
When you’re at a networking event, or speaking one-to-one with a prospect, you need a "one sheet" that summarizes your business on one page. This must be an extremely effective piece of writing that provides an overview of your business. It is designed to cause targeted prospects to want to know EVEN MORE about what you do. This marketing piece must move them along from interest and attention to serious inquiry about your business. Note: Robert Middleton calls this the Executive Summary. To learn more about how to get my help in creating a "one sheet" that compels your target market to ask you for even more information, click here to learn more about my Whiz Bang One Sheet service…
Do You Want to "Spotlight" and Sell a Single Service?
Build a "Stellar Sales" Single Page Web Site
The latest Internet wisdom is that you get more sales from a single "Internet Sales Page" type of web site. Since the entire focus of the page is to sell a single thing, there is no confusion to the site visitor. They know what the page is about and know what to do. They aren’t distracted by other pages on your site. They don’t have to wade through all your information on a full site to figure out what to do. Alternatively, this could be your quickest and best way to get a web presence for your business fairly immediately. Much of the information on this page can later be repurposed to use on three page site or a full eight page web site. Note: Robert Middleton calls this the Sales Letter form for a service page. Do You want Web Content For the Three Core Pages Of Your Site?
Get a Web Presence Quickly With Your First Three Web Pages
This package delivers content for the three core pages of your web site: Who We Work With, How We Work, and a single Service page. These are the bare minimums you need to get a web site operational. Note: If you’re a Robert Middleton fan, this service directly delivers the content he describes in his Web Site Tool Kit for these three pages. Do You Have Massive Content and Want to Turn It Into a Book Fast?
Get Your Book Drafted Within Days—Not Months or Years
One of my core skills is the ability to take massive amounts of material and quickly organize it meaningfully into a book format. Typically, within as little as two days, you’ll have the first draft of a Table of Contents. After that, it usually takes about two more weeks to produce a first draft of the book for you to edit. I put "placeholders" into the document to indicate where additional content must be supplied by you. Note On These Service Packages
These packages have been carefully put together based on what has worked with many past clients. However, you may feel a preference for some other sort of configuration. Feel free to propose another arrangement, if there is anything in these services packages you’d like different. I’m flexible and want to work in the way that gets the best out of clients. Just ask.
Can I Get My Writing Done Yesterday?
Everybody Wants Their Writing Finished FAST!
This question (and attitude) is probably the most prevalent one I encounter. I certainly feel that way when I’m working on writing my own web site and other business materials. However, the quick answer is, it takes as long as it takes to create the best possible information for your business. These are some of the things that impact how long it takes:
- How clear are you about your business, services, and strategies when we start? If you’re still deeply in the development stage, it could take longer because you’re figuring it out as we work.
- How complete is the information that you provide me to start with? Some clients provide massive information and there’s a lot to work with. It’s a lot easier and faster to write compelling copy in that situation. Other clients give meager 2-3 sentence responses. This requires much more work on my part to "pull" the information from the client’s mind and put it onto the page. I can do that too. It’s not problematic—but it will take more of my time and cost you more. The most cost effective approach you can take is to put in the time and effort up front doing a solid first draft. This will give you the best results at the least cost.
- How much new development do we do? It’s not unusual to end up developing new services in the process of working together. Sometimes this consumes time, but it is an extremely exciting aspect of our work.
We Can Also Use My Method To Develop Your Business "From Scratch"
I’ve worked this way with many clients to develop a new business "from scratch". It’s an excellent method—and when you’re finished, you have the web site ready to sell your services.
